Welcome to Mooting
2026/2027!
What Is Mooting?
At its simplest, mooting is a mock court experience where students, acting as court advocates, are required to argue a case before a judge / judges, who will then decide at the end who the winner is. Mooting often concerns divisive and topical issues going on in the world - the students' role is to both advance your own legal argument and formulate counterarguments to what your opponent puts forward. Mooting also requires students to conduct legal research, communicate with their partner and draft oral/written submissions.
Meet the Mooting Team
This year, we are lucky enough to have three members of our committee dedicated to the wonderful world of Mooting!
Introducing your Director of Mooting, Harry Wilbraham-Mitchell, and your Mooting Officers, Billy Loder and Meriam Regragui.

Note from our Director of Mooting
Harry Wilbraham-Mitchell
Hello! My name is Harry, and I am your Director of Mooting for this academic year! I am going into my third year of studies and am looking to pursue a career as a barrister; mooting is something that has helped me on this journey, and I am extremely excited to help provide these opportunities to others on the Penryn Campus, regardless of whether you are a new or returning student.
Mooting is open to all law students of all experiences, and I would strongly encourage you to get involved if you are interested in court advocacy, looking to improve your public speaking and legal research skills, or just want to have some fun!
Feel free to get in touch with me, Meriam or Billy if you have any questions, and please see below for more details on what mooting involves! Thank you!
Mooting is structured as a competition, and those who succeed in the courtroom will be rewarded. Winners of Round 1 Moots will be awarded with certificates, whilst the two winners of Round 2 Moots will receive trophies and another special prize.
